Kody Technologies Privacy Policy

Kody Technologies LLC ("Kody Technologies," "we," "us," or "our") makes LED light kits for hitch-mounted bike racks and sells them at www.kodytechnologies.com. This policy explains what personal information we collect, why we collect it, who we share it with, and what choices you have.

 

We've written it in plain English on purpose. If anything here is unclear, email us at customerservice@kodytechnologies.com and we'll explain it.

 

 

1. Who we are

We sell to customers in the United States and Canada.

 

 

2. What we collect

Information you give us

When you place an order: your name, email address, shipping address, billing address, phone number, and the items you bought.

 

When you pay: your payment is processed by our payment providers, not by us. We receive confirmation that a payment succeeded, the payment method type, and the last four digits of the card. We never receive or store your full card number, expiration date, or security code.

 

When you create an account (optional): your email address, a password, your order history, and any addresses you choose to save. Passwords are stored encrypted by our website platform — we cannot see them.

 

When you leave a product review: your name (or the display name you choose), your email address, your star rating, your written review, and any photos or video you upload. Your name, rating, review, and media are published publicly on our product pages. Your email address is not published.

 

When you subscribe to our emails: your email address and, if you provide it, your name.

 

When you contact us: whatever you include in your message — by email, through our contact form, or by phone.

Information collected automatically when you visit

• Your IP address and approximate location (usually city-level)

• Your device type, operating system, and browser

• Pages you viewed, what you clicked, and how long you stayed

• The website or ad that referred you to us

• Products you viewed or added to your cart

 

This is collected through cookies and similar technologies. Section 4 explains which ones, and Section 7 explains how to turn them off.

What we do NOT collect

We do not collect Social Security numbers, driver's license numbers, government ID numbers, biometric data, precise GPS location, or health information. We do not ask for your race, religion, political views, or sexual orientation.

3. Why we use it

Processing and shipping your order — name, address, email, phone, order details

Sending order confirmations, shipping notices, and delivery updates — email, order details

Handling returns, warranty claims, and support requests — order history, contact details, your messages

Preventing fraudulent orders and chargebacks — payment and device signals

Publishing product reviews — name, rating, review text, media

Sending marketing emails, if you subscribed — email, name

Understanding which pages and products people use — website usage data

Showing you our ads on other sites, and measuring whether they worked — website usage data, advertising cookies

Meeting our tax, accounting, and legal obligations — order and payment records

How we contact you

We contact you by email for order confirmations, shipping and delivery updates, warranty and support correspondence, replies to questions you send us, and — if you subscribed — marketing and product news.

 

We may contact you by phone or text message about a specific order when there's something we can't resolve by email, such as an incorrect shipping address or a payment that didn't go through. We do not send marketing texts.

 

You can unsubscribe from marketing email at any time using the link at the bottom of any marketing message, or by emailing customerservice@kodytechnologies.com. We will still send transactional messages about orders you've placed, because we need those to fulfill your order and honor your warranty.

4. Cookies, analytics, and advertising

The short version

Our site sets cookies as soon as you arrive, including analytics and advertising cookies.

 

We do not currently show a cookie banner. Canadian privacy law — PIPEDA, and Quebec's Law 25 in particular — expects meaningful notice and choice for advertising and tracking technologies, and this policy is how we give that notice. We recognize that an on-site banner or control would serve that better, and we are working toward one. In the meantime, Section 7 explains how to turn these off, and you can always email us and we will suppress your information from our advertising audiences.

What's actually running on our site

Essential and platform cookies (required for the site to work). Set by Wix, our website and store platform. These keep your shopping cart, keep you logged in, and protect against cross-site request forgery. They include XSRF-TOKEN and bSession. Wix also sets a consent-policy cookie that records which cookie categories are active. Because we do not currently present a cookie choice, this cookie defaults to enabling all categories — essential, functional, analytics, advertising, and third-party. It records our site's default setting, not a choice you made.

 

Fraud prevention. Forter, a fraud-detection service used by our store and payment platform, sets a token and collects device and behavior signals on every page of our site — not only at checkout — so it can distinguish real customers from fraudulent orders.

 

Google Analytics. We use Google Analytics 4 to understand how people find and use our site — which pages get read, which products get viewed, where visitors come from. This sets cookies beginning with _ga. Google provides this analytics service to us and also uses the data for its own purposes under its own privacy policy.

 

Google Ads. We advertise through Google. Google Ads cookies (including _gcl_au and cookies set by doubleclick.net) tell us when an ad led to a sale, and allow us to show our ads to people who have visited our site before. This is called remarketing.

 

Meta (Facebook and Instagram) Pixel. We advertise on Facebook and Instagram. The Meta Pixel sets cookies (_fbp and _fbc) and reports back to Meta which pages you viewed and whether you bought something, so we can measure our ads and show them to people likely to be interested.

Do other companies track you across sites?

Yes. Google and Meta can recognize your browser on other websites that use their advertising services, and can combine what they see on our site with what they see elsewhere. We do not control what they do with that information. Their own policies govern it:

"Do Not Track" and Global Privacy Control signals

Our website does not currently respond to "Do Not Track" (DNT) signals sent by web browsers. There is no accepted industry standard for what a site should do when it receives one. We tell you this because California law requires us to disclose it plainly, and we'd rather be accurate than reassuring.

 

Some browsers and extensions also send a Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal. Our site does not currently detect or act on GPC automatically. We do not sell personal information for money, but our use of Google and Meta advertising cookies may count as "sharing" for cross-context behavioral advertising. To opt out, use the ad opt-out links in Section 7, block third-party cookies in your browser, or email customerservice@kodytechnologies.com and we will suppress your information from our advertising audiences.

5. Who we share it with

We do not sell your personal information for money. We do disclose website activity to Google and Meta through advertising cookies, which California law may treat as "sharing" for cross-context behavioral advertising — see Section 7.

 

We share information with these categories of companies, only as needed to run the business:

 

Wix — our website, online store, customer records, and email platform. Hosts the site, processes orders, stores customer and order records, and sends our emails.

Wix Payments and PayPal — our payment processors. Take payment and handle refunds and disputes.

Forter — fraud prevention. Screens visits and orders for fraud.

Shipping carriers — deliver your order. They receive your name, address, and phone number.

Google — analytics and advertising. Website analytics, ad measurement, and remarketing.

Meta — advertising. Ad measurement and targeting on Facebook and Instagram.

Our accounting and tax software — bookkeeping, sales tax filings, and financial records.

 

We may also disclose information if we are legally required to — for example, in response to a subpoena, court order, or lawful request from a government authority — or if we need to protect our legal rights, investigate fraud, or protect someone's safety.

 

If we sell the business or its assets, customer information would transfer as part of that sale. We will post notice on this page and, where practical and legally permitted, email account holders.

6. How long we keep it

• Order and payment records: typically seven years, to satisfy IRS and California sales-tax record-keeping rules (which range from four to seven years depending on the record).

• Warranty records: for the life of the one-year warranty plus a reasonable period after.

• Account information: until you ask us to delete your account.

• Marketing email list: until you unsubscribe.

• Product reviews: indefinitely, unless you ask us to remove yours.

• Website analytics: according to our Google Analytics retention setting, which applies to visitor-level data. Aggregated reports may be retained longer.

7. Your choices and your rights

Everyone

Marketing emails. Every marketing email we send has an unsubscribe link at the bottom. Click it and you're off the list. We will still send transactional emails about orders you've placed — order confirmations, shipping notices, and warranty or support correspondence.

 

Review or change your information. If you have an account, log in and edit your details, saved addresses, and order history directly. If you don't have an account, email customerservice@kodytechnologies.com and we'll look up what we hold, correct anything that's wrong, or delete what we're not legally required to keep. We may ask you to confirm the email address you used to order, so we don't hand your information to someone else.

 

Withdraw your consent. If you no longer want us processing your personal information, email customerservice@kodytechnologies.com and tell us to stop. We will delete what we hold, remove you from our marketing and advertising audiences, and stop using your information — except for order, payment, and warranty records we are legally required to retain, which we will keep but not use for marketing.

 

Remove your review. Email us and we'll take it down.

 

Turn off analytics. Install Google's opt-out browser add-on: https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout — note that this add-on works only on desktop browsers and does not cover phones or tablets. On mobile, block third-party cookies in your browser settings or use your browser's tracking-prevention feature.

 

Turn off ad personalization.

Ask us directly. Email customerservice@kodytechnologies.com and we will suppress your information from our advertising audiences.

 

Block cookies in your browser. Every major browser lets you block or delete cookies in its settings. Blocking essential cookies will break the shopping cart.

California residents

Kody Technologies is a small business, and we believe we fall below the thresholds that make the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA/CPRA) applicable to us. We honor the following requests regardless of whether we are legally required to. Email customerservice@kodytechnologies.com and we will:

 

• Tell you what personal information we hold about you

• Correct it if it's wrong

• Delete it, except records we must keep for tax, warranty, or legal reasons

• Stop using your information for targeted advertising

 

One point of honesty: we do not sell your personal information for money. However, using advertising cookies from Google and Meta can count as "sharing" personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising under California law. If you'd rather we didn't, use the ad opt-outs above or email us and we'll suppress your information from our advertising audiences.

 

We will not discriminate against you — no worse pricing, no worse service — for exercising any of these rights.

Canadian residents

We handle personal information in line with Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA), and, for Quebec residents, Law 25. You may request access to the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, and withdraw your consent to our use of it, subject to legal and contractual limits. We only send marketing email to people who have asked to receive it, and every marketing message includes an unsubscribe link and tells you how to reach us.

8. Children

Our products and website are meant for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has given us personal information, email customerservice@kodytechnologies.com and we will delete it.

 

We also do not knowingly share the personal information of anyone under 16 for targeted advertising. If you believe we have, email us and we will remove them from our advertising audiences.

9. Security

Our site is hosted on the Wix platform, which stores data on secured servers behind a firewall, encrypts your connection to our site (HTTPS/TLS), and stores account passwords encrypted.

 

Payments are handled by gateways that adhere to PCI-DSS, the security standard maintained by the PCI Security Standards Council on behalf of Visa, MasterCard, American Express and Discover. Full card numbers, expiration dates, and security codes are captured and stored by those PCI-DSS compliant processors, not by us. Our order records contain only the payment method type and the last four digits of the card.

 

No method of transmitting or storing data online is perfectly secure, and we can't promise absolute security. If we ever experience a breach affecting your personal information, we will notify you and the appropriate authorities as required by law.

10. Where your information is processed

We are based in the United States. Our service providers are primarily US-based, but some — including Wix and Forter — are international companies that may access or process information from outside the United States, including Israel and the European Union. Google and Meta process advertising data across their global infrastructure.

 

If you order from Canada, your personal information will be transferred to and processed in the United States and potentially other countries, where it may be accessible to local authorities under local law.

11. Changes to this policy

If we make a material change to this policy, we will update the effective date at the top and post a notice on this page. If the change significantly affects how we use information you have already given us, we will email you at the address associated with your account or your most recent order.
