Which mount do you need?
Start here, because this decides more than the size does.
Straps — the Flex Universal. Voile straps and cable ties are included, and it goes onto almost any tube, bar or crossmember. Takes a minute to fit, comes off just as fast, and moves between racks. This is the one to pick if you're not sure.
U-bolts — the U-Bolt Universal. Clamps around a 2" square tube on an 11-gauge steel bracket. Rigid and permanent, and it's the mount that comes in all three sizes.
Bolt-on — the Vertical Mount. Fixes to a flat vertical surface with two 0.2" holes and size 8 hardware. Worth being clear: this is the one option that needs holes. If your rack already has suitable holes you're set; otherwise you'll be drilling.
Pivoting — for a rack that folds down or tilts, so the light swings with it instead of pointing at the ground.
There's also a set of 3D-printed flush-mount brackets if you'd rather build your own mount — they sit on a flat surface and route the cable out the back.
Choosing your size
Our sizes describe the light fixture, not the rack.
Small — one 16" bar with sequential turn signals.
Medium — two 12" or 13" lights.
Large — two 16" lights.
For a narrow carrier or a single-bike setup, Small is the clean choice. On anything wide — a cargo carrier, a four-bike rack, a trailer — the extra spread and output of Medium or Large does more to keep you visible.
Two reasons to size up even on a narrow setup. The Small bar shares its bulbs between the brake light and the turn signal, so braking overrides the signal — we suggest signalling before you brake. And reverse lights are only available on the double fixtures.
Driving a Tesla or a newer Ford?
Choose a Medium or a non-sequencing Large. Tesla and 2016-onward Ford electronics interfere with the sequential sweep, so a sequencing light won't animate properly on those vehicles. Everything still works, you just lose the animation. Here's what happens and the two ways to fix it.
