Kody lights are the brightest and most durable on the market providing peace of mind when using your rack.
The rugged, highly visible Kody Technologies 16-inch LED Rack Light creates eye-catching tail, brake, and turn signals. The tail light turns on six of the twelve LEDs at partial brightness. The LEDs animate or sequence left or right for turn signals. And the brake light when activated turns on all LEDs to full brightness,overriding the turn signals. Check out this YouTube Video showing the light in action. The light integrates cleanly on your rack and uses a standard 4-pin or 7-blade trailer connector for easy installation.
This rack light is designed to strap or cable tie onto any rack or cargo carry (Voile straps and cable ties included). The Flex Universal is made to attach to anything and everything! It also has several 1/4" holes for securing the light with screws (hardware not included).
We've tested the installation on a variety of racks including the Kuat Sherpa, RockyMounts SplitRail and MonoRail, Yakima DrTray, and Saris MHS. Also check out our other Universal Rack Lights.
Bracket Designs
We have three different bracket designs; Aluminum with Black Powder Coat, Steel with Black Powder Coat and Steel with White Powder Coat. The aluminum is light weight but still rugged and great for attaching with the Voile straps. The steel units are more heavy duty and great for both strapping to your rack or bolt it in plate using 1/4" hardware.
You can also select single or double brackets in each of these designs.
Cable Lengths
We provide three cable length options. The cable lengths include Short (70"), Long (112") and Extra Long (160"). The Short cable will work in most applications using a standard bike rack with up to four bike trays. Please see our FAQ page for information regarding how to select the right cable length for your rack set up.
License Plates
We have options for plate holders and a plate light. These need to be purchased through our plate holder pages. For more information on our plate options please check out License Plate Holders and Plate Lights. The plate holder varies between the different main trailer light set up. For this product, if you do want to add a plate holder or plate light be sure to add the four pin with plate connection or seven pin trailer connection in the options.

The Flex is our universal pick — Voile straps and cable ties are included, plus 1/4" holes if you would rather screw it down. Both the single and double set-ups use our sequencing light, so if you drive a Tesla or a 2016-or-newer Ford the sweep will not animate; everything else still works. I have been riding bicycles for 40 years and my flex universal rack light rates in the top 3 cycling accessories I have ever purchased.
To start with the construction is top notch and I will never have to worry about accidently hitting the rack as I load my bicycles. Love the heavy-duty electrical cord. Finally, several friends have followed me as we commute to our riding route. Each of them says the same things...easily seen, routine brightness and brake light brightness are perfect (even in pouring rain) and finally the turn light function really stands out.
You cannot go wrong purchasing a rack light from Kody.
Let me start by saying John is a total class act to work with. I couldn't have asked for better customer service. I have a Saris Cycle 2 on bike rack that Saris doesn't even make a light for. I loved the look and quality of the Kody Flex light but didn't think it could work for my application. After discussing various thoughts and ideas with John I decided to take a chance and order the Flex setup. I could not be any happier with the results. It far exceeds my expectations. I finally got home and was able to test out the light. It is awesome! Sturdy, bright, and the Voile straps make it easy to mount/take off my Sherpa rack. Thank you for a great product. Yes it costs more than some you might find on Amazon, but they are not nearly as bright, or sturdy. Worth every penny.
Purchased the Flex Universal for my Kuat Sherpa rack and am very pleased. John was extremely helpful in determining the best solution for my rack and vehicle. Easy to install and works as designed.
This is my second light bar. Great way to protect my bikes when they are on the back of my car. Easy to install. Cars behind me can definitely see when I am braking or turning.
