Kody lights are the brightest and most durable on the market providing peace of mind when using your bike rack.
The rugged, highly visible Kody Technologies dual 16-inch LED Rack Lights creates eye-catching tail, brake, and turn signals. The light integrates cleanly on your rack and uses a standard 4-pin trailer connector for easy installation. This rack light is designed specifically for the Kuat NV 1.0, Kuat NV Base 2.0 and Kuat NV 2.0 bike racks (both with and without the bike service stand). NV 1.0 installations require a different screw and washer set — please contact us and we'll include one with your order. The last two images show the difference between versions 1.0 and 2.0. This light separates the brake, turn and tail lights into independant left and right hand light fixtures. Each light fixture is 16" wide and provides bright, clear and visible signaling. The lights are installed on our custom heavy duty bracket for mounting to your bike rack. The total width of the lights and bracket is just under 33" wide.
Pivoting Light
This light pivots for use in both rack down with bikes loaded and rack up and stored positions. To position the light just loosen the clamps, pivot the light into the desired position and tighten the clamps.
This light normally uses our mechanical pivoting mechanism versus our friction hinge options. The pivot option might be substituted pending inventory availability. Double 16" Light Options
There are three double 16" wide light fixture options available:
- Basic brake/turn/tail light, red lens
- Basic brake/turn/tail light with built in reverse, clear lens with red LEDs and white reverse lights
- Our original sequencing light, red lens
Each light option is very bright and will help you be seen on the road. Reverse light requires a seven blade trailer connector.
Vehicle Connections and Reverse Lights
For this option, choose between a standard four pin and a standard seven blade connectors. The four pin connection powers tail lights (including plate lights if added), turn signals and brake lights. Upgrading to the seven blade option adds a heavier duty cable, the seven pin connector and licence plate light connector (we call it plate ready). Choose the correct connection to eliminate the need for adapters and prepare for future upgrades. Seven blade is required for reverse lights.
Cable Lengths
We provide three cable length options. The cable lengths include Short (70"), Long (112") and Extra Long (160"). The Short cable will work in most applications using a standard bike rack with up to four bike trays. Please see our FAQ page for information regarding how to select the right cable length for your rack set up.
License Plates
We have four options for plate holders and a plate light. Please see the list below to understand each option. For more information on our plate options please check out License Plate Holders and Plate Lights. The plate holder varies between the different main trailer light set up.
No Plate Accessory: I just want my light and nothing to do with any license plate holders.
Plate Light Ready: Adds a plate light electrical connection to the main cable, ready for a future plate light upgrade. No plate holder is included with this option. This option is included at no extra cost with the seven blade connection, which already carries the plate light connector.
Plate Holder - No Light: Plate holder with no electrical connection or light. This includes a bracket mounted to the main light which provides a license plate mounting location and plate mount hardware.
Plate Holder with Light: Plate holder with plate light. This includes the plate holder mentioned above as well as a second bracket to install the plate light, integrated cable wiring and the plate light.

I purchased the Pivoting Double 16” sequencing light for my Kuat NV 2.0 rack configured for three bicycles. Before the purchase I called Kody with a couple of questions and left a message. John called back the same day and answered all my questions. I ordered the lights online and received them 6 days later. I emailed an installation question and received a same day response.
The lights were easy to install on the NV 2.0. You will need to consider where you want to run the wiring. The wiring is heavy duty with a couple of junction points that I did not want compress with the folding ratchet arms. It won’t be a problem if you think about it before installing the cable ties.
The lights are bright and easy to see. Being able to rotate them so they can be seen with the rack up or down gave me more confidence that I can be seen by other drivers when driving both day and night.

The impetus for my purchase of the Kody Technologies light bar for the Kuat NV 2.0 was a recent incident in which a distracted or otherwise impaired driver almost rear-ended my vehicle, whose lights were obscured by a loaded bike rack. Fortunately, I was in the penultimate lane on the dreaded 405 and the driver bailed into the HOV lane. John’s pre- and post-purchase guidance is superior. The machined parts of the KodyTech products are solid and well-engineered. Future trips back to the Laguna Wilderness will be less eventful.
Works great. installation was easy -- Install the bike rack on the car, remove 1 bolt on my bike rack, fit the light kit, reinstall the bolt, route the wire harness with provided cable ties, plug in the 7 pin connector. Done.
Lights are bright, and supplement the vehicle lighting very well.
I am quite happy I bought this light kit. I think it will improve conspicuity of my vehicle when transporting my bikes.

This light bar helped keep my highly valued bikes safe during multi-state road trip in all kinds of traffic. Well worth the investment!
Absolutely love the lights. The connectors were a bit tricky to feed through the rack frame , and I ended up tearing up one of them by trying to brute force it, but once I got that sorted out it was an easy install, and looks great! It also serves as a great light to add an extra element of safety when transporting lumber from Home Depot that extends past the tailgate of my truck!
